Combustion Audit and Fuel Assessment Study

Country:
Malaysia
Location:
Kapar, Klange Valley
Fuel Type:
Coal

Key challenges

Kapar’s GF3 plant consists of 2 x 500MW sub-critical, opposed wall-fired boilers and was experiencing various operational problems. The plant operators engaged RJM to help identify the root cause of the issues at the plant.

RJM Solution

RJM carried out a Combustion Audit and a Fuel Assessment study to get a better understanding of the root cause factors affecting combustion and the impact of coal quality on plant performance.

Results

The Combustion Audit and Fuel Assessment findings were well received by KEV, and RJM’s analysis helped identify the root-cause of the issues at site. RJM also provided KEV with a coal blending tool, to improve coal blend management at the site. RJM has also submitted additional proposals to improve performance and reliability at the site.
