Edipower’s plant at Brindisi consists of four 320MWe units and dates from 1964. It originally ran on oil, but in 1979 the plant was reconfigured to co-fire coal. Two of the units are currently moth-balled, while the remaining two operate on coal. In common with many other power stations throughout Europe, the plant operators at Brindisi have been working hard to meet ever more exacting emissions targets whilst simultaneously improving plant flexibility, so that optimum performance can be maintained at a range of different power outputs.
