Different biomass fuels have very different properties and this can impact significantly on fuel storage, materials handling, combustion, slagging, fouling and emissions.
In situations where plant operators do not have the expertise in-house to resolve these complex and often inter-linked operational challenges, they will seek specialist external support, such as that provided by RJM.
RJM is currently working on a number of biomass-fired plants, delivering a range of operational improvements to increase output and reliability with longer periods of generation between outages.
Looking longer term, RJM is investing in R&D to develop a new, much more cost-effective carbon capture solution, which has the potential to evolve into a commercially viable BECCS technology (Biomass Enabled with Carbon Capture and Storage).
In Asia-Pacific, RJM is also enabling coal-fired utility generators to introduce co-firing with biomass to support the transition to low carbon generation.
