In terms of potential emissions reduction and financial benefits, burning biomass appears to be an attractive proposition for many coal plants and they should all be converting as quickly as possible. But in the real world it’s not that straightforward.

In this article by John Goldring and Steve Cornwell of RJM International, they explain what the technical and logistical challenges are for coal-fired stations and demonstrate how they are being addressed to enable coal plants to migrate towards lower carbon generation.
