RJM International, the Winchester–based provider of emissions reduction solutions and equipment to power stations and large combustion plant all over the world, has been awarded the prestigious Innovation Award by the Energy Institute at its Annual Awards Ceremony, for its ground-breaking coal and biomass-fired Ultra-Low NOx Burner.

This new dual-fuel, Ultra-Low NOx Burner was conceived, designed and developed in-house by RJM’s combustion engineers and its adoption is now enabling thermal-fired plants to simultaneously reduce NOx and reduce their carbon emissions, through the introduction of co-firing with biomass fuel.

Commenting on the award win, John Goldring, Managing Director of RJM International said, “Winning this prestigious Energy Institute Innovation Award means so much to all of us at RJM and is the culmination of many years of hard work.

“We are delighted to accept this Award and for the recognition by a leading international Institute of the clear benefits that our ground-breaking technology is now bringing to the energy sector.” he confirmed.

Commenting on the Energy Institute Awards, Louise Kingham OBE, FEI, Chief Executive, Energy Institute, said, “The global energy sector faces a number of challenges to deliver a safe, secure, sustainable and affordable energy system. While the task is complex, there are many great examples from those working hard in the industry, offering new ideas, work practices and innovation to support this common goal. The EI Awards promote the best initiatives and draw attention to the excellence demonstrated by organisations and individuals on a daily basis. This year’s award winners focus on sustainability projects that make a real difference to society, alongside proactive safety initiatives that contribute to the safety of our people.”
